Dawn McVey's First Color Challenge/Clean & Simple FTL #34

Today, I combined two challenges: Dawn McVey's {first} Color Challenge and Clean & Simple's FTL #34. (Click on the links to see what others created using the colors or the layout!)

Just last week, I received my first ever box of goodies from Papertrey Ink. (Most of my cardstock up until now has come from Stampin' Up!, but Dawn McVey has created so many beautiful cards with Papertrey products that I had to order some!) I started small, though, buying just the 2008 cardstock sampler, the 8x8 pad of bitty dot basics paper, and four spools of ribbon. (My thinking was that if I fall-in-love with Papertrey products, I'll ask for some more product for my birthday in June!)

And so far, I really like the Papertrey products, particularly the bitty dot basics paper and the ribbon. The ribbon is really soft and super easy-to-tie!

In terms of the challenges, I used all five colors, but deviated a bit from the layout. I needed to incorporate the orange color into the card somehow, so I placed a strip of orange paper (cut with the SU! scallop edge punch) to the bottom of the polka dot panel. I also stamped welcome baby on orange cardstock and placed it off the edge of the center panel.

Thanks to Dawn McVey and Clean & Simple Stamping for fun challenges!
