Over the past few weeks, I've been collecting some cool websites to share here on my blog. Some might help you save money, others might make you want to spend money and still others might make you smarter. Many of you may have already heard about these sites, but if not, here goes.
1.www. filleritem.com
A great place to go if you're just $2.95 away from qualifying for FREE shipping at amazon.com.
2. www.academicearth.org
You can audit a class at Harvard or Princeton without even leaving your couch. A perfect site for those of us nerds who thought that attending lectures in college was the best! (Okay, just some, not all, lectures!)
3. www.restaurant.com
If you love to eat out, check out this website! We bought a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant in Nevada City and only paid $10 for it.
4. www.websitebakery.com/2010/04/mini-mosaic/
This website describes itself as an "exhibition and inspiration showcase gallery."
I thought these mini-mosaic necklaces were so adorable! And they can create custom tiles, too.
5. http://www.ricksteves.com/news/travelnews/1004/audio_europe.htm
If you love to travel in Europe like I do, check out Rick Steves' Audio Europe podcasts — an extensive array of audio files — now available for free — via iTunes. Rick has gathered together, sliced and diced all of his audio tours and radio show interviews into regional collections, so now wherever you're heading, you can log on, grab and go.
6. bookseer.com
You finally finished The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, and now you're at a loss as to what to read next. Just type in the book's title and this site compiles comparable suggestions based on information from Amazon and LibraryThing. (Taken from Real Simple, July 2010)
7. http://www.closeoutlinen.com/
A great place to find luxury linens at discount prices! A week ago, I purchased a 9-piece king comforter set for just $79.99, and it arrived in just five days.
I also included an application because I know so many people now have iPhones.
7. App: ShopSavvy
Before you splurge on that new pair of Kenneth Cole pumps, make sure you're getting the best deal. Using your smartphone's camera, take a picture of the bar code of an item (whether it's a piece of clothing, a DVD, or a digital camera) and you'll instantly see competitors' prices at stores near you and online. Free on iTunes. (Taken from Real Simple, May 2010)
What websites do you love?
Happy surfing,
J
