We are most alive when we're IN LOVE...

About a month ago, I wrote out a list of all of the birthdays and anniversaries in our circle of family and friends between the months of January and June. That way, I would know how many cards I needed to make and be able to tackle them one-by-one. My hand-written list consisted of ten birthday cards and six anniversary cards. I started in on the birthday cards and as of now I've completed all but three of them. (Wouldn't you know that the three I still need to do are for male recipients?! Cards for men are always the hardest!)

As for the anniversary cards, I wanted to make a batch of cards, not identical per se, but similar in color and design. The other night as I perused the card making embellishments at Jo-Ann's with my mom, I came across a package of ten clear epoxy quote stickers by Cloud 9 Design. Printed on the cute epoxy stickers are quotes about love, beauty, kindness, and togetherness: sentiments perfect for anniversary cards!

On this card, I adhered the white swirl paper (which I had already punched with my SU! scallop edge punch) about a 1/4" beyond the edge of the black card. I did this so that I could punch holes in the scallops. Before I punched the holes (using my 1/8" hole punch), though, I turned the paper over and then used the black edge of the card to help guide the hole placement. (As you can see in the photo, the holes are not perfectly placed, but they are much better aligned than on my first attempt.)

Speaking of love, Brian and I watched The Duchess recently. It's the true story of Georgiana, who at the age of seventeen was married off to the Duke of Devonshire. Set in the late 18th-century, Georgiana finds herself in a loveless marriage, unable to provide a male heir for her husband. I don't want to give away any more of the plot, but suffice it to say, if you like other British period pieces (such as Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice), I think you'll like this one, too. The costumes (particularly Keira Knightley's), the landscapes, and the music are wonderful! Oh, and did I mention how much I {heart} British accents?!
