CA State Fair Opens Today!

Today is a GREAT day!

Not only is it Friday, but it's also Opening Day of the 2009 California State Fair!

Yippee! :-)

I'm not sure yet when Brian and I will be attending the Fair, but I'm hopeful we'll be able to carve out a few hours one Saturday or Sunday to enjoy the exhibits, hang with the animals, shop and devour some yummy food. (My favorite fair food: a hotdog on a stick--with ketchup and mustard--and an ice cold lemonade. I'm salivating just thinking about it!)

For the second year in a row, I entered four of my cards in the State Fair's card crafting contest.
Here they are:

In the birthday card category, my Make a Wish card earned 2nd place.

The white border is a series of punched hearts glued to the back of the black circle.

In the wedding category, my Lifetime of Love & Joy card earned an Award of Merit.

In the thinking of you category, my Heartfelt Wishes card also earned an Award of Merit.

And in the Other category, my Butterfly Thank You card earned an Award of Merit.

This year, I also submitted a 2-page 12" x 12" scrapbooking layout for the "Scrapping" Through California contest. To my surprise, my London layout won 2nd place!

While I was excited to win two 2nd place awards, I was really hoping to land a 1st place award this year. Oh, well...there's always next year, right?! And I'm certainly grateful for the cash awards and the two free tickets to the Fair!

If you head to the Fair this year and want to take a peek at all of the winning greeting cards and scrapbooking layouts, head on over to Building 8 in the Expo Center.

Thanks for letting me share my creations with you! Hope you have a great day!

Tyler was so proud of you to show your cards and page at the state fair. He remembered them all and pointed them out to Grandma and Papa.

So fun to get to see your work and your faces (with the London layout) at the fair.
