Week In The Life: Saturday, 4/17

This past week, I've been working on a project called Week In The Life, which was started by scrapbooking guru Ali Edwards.

The essence of the project is to document the ins-and-outs of your life via photographs, journaling and odds and ends (receipts, tickets, lists) for seven consecutive days. I chose to tack on one more day because I wanted to include our move on April 17th as well an 80's birthday party on April 24th.

After the documentation phase of the project, the goal is to quickly and easily assemble a scrapbook showing your life in April 2010. To be honest, I'm not quite sure if I'm going to scrapbook this past week, but I *really* enjoyed the documentation process.

Throughout the week, I kept reminding myself to take pictures of the little things in my life. To document the things I do for work at home. And to record the people and activities and things that bring me joy. It really forced me to live in the moment. And to put my pen to paper. Which are both very good things. In fact, it was so fun that I can't wait to do it again next year.

So, without further ado, here are my photos and thoughts from Saturday, 4/17/10.

It's moving day! When this 24-foot truck rolled up in the driveway last night, I thought there was no way we would fill it up. But we did! (A big thanks to Brian Cruice for all his help!)

We packed and loaded until midnight Friday night and then Brian headed up the hill early on Saturday morning. My mom and I packed the silverware away on Friday night, which meant no cereal for breakfast. What's the next best thing? Why, McDonald's, of course! With no bar stools or dining chairs in sight, I ate standing up at the stove. But I inhaled these sugar-infused hotcakes so fast, it didn't matter one bit!

Our parents stepped up big time and helped us move. (Thank you!)

Unpacking is so much more fun than packing!

Love this view of the meadow and irrigation canal from the dining room/kitchen area of our new house.

Our first dinner at the new house was ironically not in the house. We dined at the wooden picnic bench down in the meadow. Before munching on leftover Subway sandwiches, we made a toast with our wine glasses. Oh, how I love sparkling apple cider! And the smiling man sitting just beyond the cider! :-)

Home sweet home!

Brian's "man cave" has a GIGANTIC 13 inch television, which for now sits on the floor. LOL

Ali Edwards recommends that you take at least one picture of yourself each day. While Brian was enjoying his recliner and television downstairs, I snapped a few photos of myself in the master bathroom mirror. It felt weird taking shots of myself, but I'm sure years from now, I'll be glad I did.

Did I mention how much I love my big master bathroom?! It is fantastic with lots of cabinet space, a soaking tub, and a big mirror. Plus, the cool skylight above the shower illuminates the room during the day, which means oftentimes I don't even have to flip on the light.

Blessed is the word that keeps popping into my head again and again today.
Blessed to be realizing a dream Brian and I have worked long and hard for.
Blessed to have family who support us.
Blessed to have a beautiful place to call home.
