9-11 Climb
On Saturday, September 11, 2010, Brian, Pete, and 341 other firefighters climbed the steps of the Renaissance Tower to honor those who lost their lives in the twin towers nine years ago. Each firefighter ascended to the 26th story of the Renaissance Tower three times, and then a fourth time to the helicopter pad on the 32nd story -- a total of 110 floors symbolizing those of the World Trade Center. Brian climbed in honor of Michael Montesi, a husband and father, who wanted to be a firefighter since the age of 5. Pete ascended for Timothy Welty, a husband and father, who could do push-ups with two fingers and loved to skydive and ski. When Brian and Pete reached the top of the Renaissance Tower, they hung the name they were carrying onto a memorial of the towers and rang a solemn bell. May we never forget those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
