Dawn McVey's Color Challenge #15

Life has been a little hectic lately with the start of school, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to participate in Dawn McVey's 15th Color Challenge. So, in between grading reading tests, folding laundry and throwing the ball for the dogs, I made this butterfly birthday card.

The pink looks purple in these photos, but I *pinky* promise, it is a medium pink. I searched and searched for just the right color, finally finding it in a Making Memories 6 x 6 paper pad. (It's the Cheeky Collection--Abby, which I bought many moons ago at Beverly's.)

{supplies}
Cardstock: Cream (Stampin' Up!); Moss (Papertrey)
Paper: Making Memories (medium pink); Orange (Costco pack)
Stamp: Everyday Button Bits (Papertrey)
Ink: Certainly Celery (Stampin' Up!)
Punch: Martha Stewart butterfly
Pearls (Recollections)

I loved this color combo so much that I made a few additional cards using sentiments from Papertrey's Everday Button Bits stamp set.

For this card, I decided to use a white card base instead of a cream one. I love how the colors really POP! Sure reminds me of summertime! :-)

Again, using a white card base, I punched out a bunch of hearts using my SU! Three Hearts punch. Then, I adhered them directly onto the card using my blue glue pen and then stamped the sentiment in the right corner. I love the look of the hearts, but next time, I'm going to pull them closer together. They are just too spread out!

Thanks so much for looking at my creations! I'm off now to stamp some of the adorable images from the Everyday Button Bits stamp set.

Oh, and one more thing...I'm proud to say that all of the photos in this post were shot in the Manual setting! As you can see, I learned quite a bit in my recent beginning photography class. Woo! Hoo! But I still have a long way to go--my next photo class, Photography 102, begins September 16th. Can't wait to learn all about lighting!
