Rubber Stamps For Sale

In an effort to make a little cash for Christmas (and let's be real, clean up my downstairs office), I'm clearing out the last of my used rubber stamps.

First up is this set of nine Christmas stamps (pictured above), which would be perfect for holiday cards, tags, mini-albums or scrapbook layouts. Seven of the nine stamps were produced by A Muse Artstamps.

Secondly, this HUGE lot of miscellaneous stamps would be ideal for crafters who make greeting cards for all different occasions--Father's Day, graduations, St. Patrick's Day, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Easter, etc.

I also have five sets of Stampin' Up! rubber stamps for sale on Etsy:

Just Celebrate

Friendship Blooms

Botanical Blooms

For a Friend

Happy Harmony

If you're interested in purchasing any of these stamp sets, check out my Etsy shop or email me directly at brianandjennieadopt@gmail.com.

I'd love to find new homes for these stamps soon.

Thanks for looking!

ETA: A big thanks to my cousin who purchased every.single.stamp I owned. You're the best, Chris!

Adoption Update | Late Summer

As I mentioned in this June blog post,  I'm making a more concerted effort to document the adoption process this time around--not only for me (I enjoy rereading old posts from time-to-time), but also for people who might be interested in learning about how private domestic adoption works.

Here's what I've done since the last update:

COMPLETED:

  • CREATED AN ADOPTIMIST PROFILE | Recently, our attorney told us about Adoptimist. She said several of her clients have connected with prospective birth parents, thanks to Adoptimist. I created a free profile for now and may upgrade to a paying subscription in the future.

  • SHARED PASS ALONG CARDS | A big thanks to those of you who have requested cards. I thought we might have one or two people ask...but so far, 15 of you (awesome folks that you are!) have requested cards. Even a few college students are posting them on their campus bulletin boards--thank you, thank you, thank you!
  • PURCHASED A FACEBOOK TIMELINE TEMPLATE | The Facebook timeline, pictured at the top of this post, is available from this Etsy seller. (All photos in the timeline were taken by Mindy Newton of Mindy Newton Photography.)
And here's what I want to do going forward:

STILL TO DO:
  • PREPARE THE NURSERY | I'm fairly certain that we're going to keep all of the existing nursery furniture (crib, rocker, changing table), but I'd like to repaint the walls, change the bedding and drapes, and display some new art. Oh, and hang a few pom poms from the ceiling. I adore them!
  • SHARE | Continue to tell others about our adoption dreams, both in person and online.
  • PRAY | We've been praying for a baby girl since we started the process, but we'll continue to pray and hope and wish and plan (reminds me of that Wishing and Hoping song in "My Best Friend's Wedding") until our daughter joins our family.
I also have a few adoption-related stories to tell you, but I'll save them for a separate post--coming soon!

Noah's 1st Birthday Party

Earlier this month, we celebrated Noah's first birthday with a party.

Those of you that know me well know that I like to plan parties.  (Note: I didn't say I like attending parties. On the contrary.  But I love the brainstorming, the list-making, the shopping, and the decorating that happens prior to the event.)

Back in November, I started thinking about the party's theme.

Then, in December, after perusing the internet and searching Pinterest and Etsy, I decided to go with this book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  I'm a huge picture book lover, and this is one I'm quite fond of, having read it many times as a first grade teacher.

In the weeks leading up to the party, I gathered decorating and food ideas from different blogs and websites, and pinned them to a *secret* Pinterest board.

Here are pictures from the day of the party, along with information about the decorations, invitation, and food.

I ordered many of the paper products--including the happy birthday banner (pictured above), the plates (pictured below), the dessert napkins, and the polka dot tablecloth (pictured above and below)--from The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art.  The rest I bought at Party City.

A few days before Noah's party, we had his pictures taken at Picture People.  He wore a white onesie hand painted by this Etsy seller.  (By the way, I purchased the party invitation from this Etsy seller.)

Brian made this cute balloon caterpillar for the family room.

I made this sign for Noah's high chair using card stock and ribbon.

I also made this collage of photos from Noah's first year of life.  I fashioned the number 1 out of leftover cardboard (which I'd saved from Costco photo orders during the year) and then attached the photos to it.  I love when I can reuse materials!

All of the other decorations have now been taken down, but this one still hangs above the fireplace because, well, it just makes me smile.

On the food table we featured many of the fruits from The Very Hungry Caterpillar: apples, pears, grapes (instead of plums), strawberries, and oranges.  I bought the mini-food signs from this Etsy seller.

We also had crackers, a meat and cheese tray (from Bel-Air), pickles, and smokies with BBQ sauce (in the crock-pot).

I decorated each of the three dining tables with flowers (from Costco), mugs of lollipops, and a copy of the book.

Overall, I was happy with the caterpillar cake, which I made at home.  Brian cut a piece of wood for the base, and I wrapped it with black fabric.  The white foam letters are from my scrapbooking stash!

After singing "Happy Birthday" to Noah and blowing out his candle, Brian fed Noah a little frosting.

This was his reaction.  And ours.  Totally hilarious!

We're so thankful for Noah, and for the wonderful year we've had with him.

We're also thankful for Noah's birth mother and the choices she made.

To her, we say: Thank you for choosing life.  Thank you for carrying Noah for nine months.  Thank you for courageously giving birth to Noah.  Thank you for placing Noah in our care, faithfully trusting us to love him and raise him.

Handmade Wedding Gift

A few weeks ago, Brian and I attended Mike and Ali Johnson's beautiful wedding at their home in Loomis.  (Brian and Mike both work for Sac Metro Fire.)

Prior to the event, I scanned the couple's registry, and while there were many lovely items on it, none of them jumped out and said, "Buy me!"

So my next stop was Etsy, where I searched for a handmade wedding gift.

Ever see an item online and think, I could make that!?  And make it for less.

That's exactly what happened while browsing the Domestic Notions shop on Etsy.  I spotted a framed art piece that I loved.  But I didn't like the price.

So, I decided to create a similar piece using an Aaron Brothers frame, a double mat, card stock, a heart punch and my computer.

It's probably difficult to see in these pictures, but the hearts are filled with the lyrics to the couple's first song as husband and wife: When You've Got a Good Thing by Lady Antebellum.

Wishing Ali and Mike a long and happy marriage.

Used Stampin' Up! Stamps For Sale

Like many crafters, I go through creative phases. At certain times, I'm really excited about card making, churning out card after card. During other periods, I'm more focused on photography or scrapbooking.

In the past, when I created cards on a regular basis, I used a number of Stampin' Up! rubber stamps. Lately, though, I find myself more interested in creating scrapbook pages, and using fewer and fewer stamps.

Hence, the reason why I'm selling ten (10) of my rubber stamp sets on Etsy. All are used, but in good condition.

Hopefully, they will land in the hands of stampers who will use (and love) them.

Easter will be here before we know it...

Over the past week, I've been creating a variety of Easter cards for an Etsy customer. (Thanks, Sue, for requesting a custom order!) It's been so much fun playing with super-duper cute American Crafts paper, which I purchased at Green Tangerines.

Aren't these brightly colored Easter eggs just adorable?!

On this card, I took the green paper (which was brown on the back) and punched a 1 1/4" circle. Then, I took my larger circle punch (1 3/8") and punched a second circle just around the first circle.

The result was a thin, brown ring, which I adhered to the outer edge of the 1 3/8" circle opening. (Isn't double-sided paper grand?!)

And that oh-so-tiny brown mat really helps to frame the colorful Easter eggs.

For this third card, I used an X-acto knife to cut slits in the green paper, allowing me to place the egg in among the blades of grass.

Just like the Easter Bunny!
